Brandon Mashinter (born on September 20, 1988 in Bradford, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left wing currently playing for the Chicago Blackhawks organization of the NHL.
Playing Career[]
Undrafted, Mashinter signed as a free agent with the San Jose Sharks on March 3, 2009.
He played in his first career NHL game on December 29, 2010 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN vs. the Minnesota Wild.
On January 16, 2013, he was traded to the Rangers on January 16, 2013 in exchange for Tommy Grant and a conditional 7th round draft pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
On December 6, 2013, the Rangers traded him to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Kyle Beach.
During the 2015-16 NHL season, Mashinter split the season between the Blackhawks and the Rockford IceHogs.
In Rockford, he was named the 10th team captain in IceHogs history and posted 7 points in 12 games.
In Chicago, Mashinter made his debut with the Blackhawks on November 12, 2015 and on December 13, 2015, he scored his first NHL goal in a 4-0 win against the Vancouver Canucks.
On February 28, 2016, he netted his first NHL assist in a game against the Washington Capitals.
